For the fourth time, BirdWatching magazine, in collaboration with the Caribbean Conservation Trust (CCT), is promoting a birding program to Cuba, the Caribbean’s largest and most ecologically diverse island nation. Along with noted author and BirdWatching contributing writer Noah Strycker, our team will include acclaimed Cuban scientist Dr. Luis Diaz, curator of the National Museum of Natural History in Havana.
CCT Conservation Initiatives in 2017 will continue in early 2018. Beginning in late 2016 through the current year, CCT donated or facilitated the donation and delivery of more than 60 hummingbird feeders, 50 pairs of binoculars, 70 field guides, 2 spotting scopes and tripods, 250 bird conservation themed coloring books, and several boxes of crayons, pencils, and additional art supplies.

April 13 – 14, 2018: Our full day EXTENSION OPTION in the city will include all meals, a guided city tour, including a walking tour of Habana Vieja (Old Havana) and the 4 original plazas, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987.
While there will be daily opportunities for birding on this trip, our focus expands to include a range of Cuban fauna and flora, and the ecology and history of regions we visit. At different intervals throughout the program we will hear from Cuban experts about the natural relationship of Cuban species of birds, reptiles, amphibians, mammals, as well as arachnids (spiders) and insects and other invertebrates such as mollusks and butterflies.
