Ernesto Reyes Mouriño has been leading birding and natural history programs in Cuba since 2001. He is a trained biologist and author of and contributor to numerous scientific publications dating back to 1996. Ernesto has worked as a consultant for sustainable tourism design in Zapata Swamp National Park and in Desembarco de Granma National Park in Eastern Cuba, and has collaborated  with government conservation organizations in Cuba to develop management plans for Cuba’s protected natural áreas with respect to sustainable tourism practices. Ernesto received a Master’s degree in Applied Ecology and Systematics from the University of Havana in 2004. Ernesto is fluent in English, and is a charismatic and personable leader, as well as a very talented birder and photographer. Ernesto’s accomplishments as a bird and wildlife photographer are well documented and represented by numerous awards presented to him in Cuba and other Latin American countries. His photography has been published internationally, and has been utilized as a source of information for research and environmental management in protected areas in Cuba, primarily in the Zapata Swamp Biosphere Reserve and National Park.
